It is not practical to itemise every aspect of confidentiality, hygiene and professionalism. Never the less the main points are outlined here. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
All foot care home appointments are carried out in accordance with the strict standards laid down for domiciliary visits by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists.
Although limited information about you will be requested for the podiatry notes, no detail given will be discussed with, or supplied to any third party, fully complying with the Data Protection Act. However in isolated instances it may be beneficial to share particular details with your doctor.
You would, of course, be fully consulted first.
A new pair of single use disposable gloves are worn for each person.
Antiseptic spray is applied to my hands before and after putting on the gloves. It is also used on the feet receiving foot care, before, during and on completion of treatment.
Scalpel blades and dressings, if needed, will be sterile and single use only.
Instruments are only used once before being re-sterilised in a high pressure medical autoclave, and then sealed in a single use disposable plastic pouch for the next treatment.
Fully comprehensive and up to date insurance is arranged through the Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists.
All waste material will be removed and disposed of thoughtfully in the appropriate manner. No mess will be left behind.
Confidential treatment notes are kept to facilitate any future appointments, and in order to monitor progress of the treatment plan.
The certificate for my Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check, along with any or all of my qualifications can be brought along to the appointment and examined by you if requested.
A receipt and a business card will automatically be left after each foot care treatment.
